Web Review #4: SEW-lutions Guidelines

Sewing.org provides various guidelines (SEW-lutions Guidelines) that cover various aspects of sewing and useful tips for beginners. Most of the educational articles are in pdf format so to view them, you should have adobe reader. The good thing about this website is that the guideline project is an ongoing project and it will be are regularly updated.

It also offers free projects, ranging the simple products, such as pillow cases, to the more complex and advanced ones like bridal sewing. The projects use simple instructions that are easy to follow. It also indicates the pattern level (beginner/advanced), approximate finished size and the seam allowances.

Although sewing has been taken out of the curriculum, i still think that students should be taught basic sewing for clothes/wardrobe maintenance. This website is useful for teachers to be used as guide and resource to teach students to do simple, basic sewing.
